Student Focus

Chrissy GregoryHello, my name is Christine Gregory and I am a year 12 student currently studying AS levels in Psychology, English, Religious Studies and a Level 3 BTEC National Certificate Health and Social Care. I am also studying a Level 3 Childcare (CACHE) through a long distance learning programme with the Open Study College. My career goal is to attend University and become a midwife.

Apart from my studies I have also enrolled in a number of enrichment opportunities and additional qualifications.  I am currently the Managing Director of the nationally recognised Young Enterprise scheme and we have named our Company ‘Elephant – big ideas’. This will give me an insight into the world of business with specific duties including leading others and agreeing goals. I am also a member of the Sixth Form Leadership Team which meets as a group to discuss all academic and social issues concerning the Sixth Form and generally being the voice of the Sixth Form. I was also successfully selected as a Sixth Form College ambassador and will be assisting with future staff appointments, public speaking and helping with relevant College events. Finally when I have some time left, I am engaging in some voluntary work by being a teacher’s assistant with the younger years.

I had many different options in Year 11 but my over-all choice was to come to Earl Mortimer Sixth Form. There were many reasons for this, I had already studied here for five years and it is a really great place to be. The teachers are always welcoming and supportive and the college always has your best interests at heart. They offer you so many different leadership and volunteering opportunities which I have decided to take up as you have read. The facilities are also excellent especially the Sixth Form Centre which is all ours! I am so glad I came here, I am enjoying it so much!
