Sport at Key Stage 4

Core Physical Education at KS4 aims to follow a student based pathway, varying from year group to year group and tailored to the needs of the individual. Importantly in the eyes of the Faculty the aim is to enable the learner to develop a range of experiences in a variety of roles. Enabling the learner to follow their interest in an activity or range of activities into community sport:

Students are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their learning and emphasis is placed upon the older students (KS4 and KS5) encouraging and nurturing the KS3 students interests through assisting and on occasions organising extra-curricular activities in areas of specific interest.

Examination Sport is tailored to the requirements of the students involved. Level 2 BTEC qualifications are offered from Certificate (1 GCSE equivalence), Extended Certificate (2 GCSE equivalence) and Diploma (4 GCSE equivalence). GCSE Sport is also regularly offered either as a standalone qualification or in in addition to any of the 3 possible BTEC pathways.
