The Earl Mortimer College and Sixth Form Centre is proud to be a Directly Licenced Centre for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.  We currently offer Bronze Award to all students in Year 10 and Silver Award to all in Year 11.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award aims to “give all young people the chance to develop skills for work and life, fulfil their potential and have a brighter future”.  Participants contribute to our community through voluntary work in a broad range of local charities, childcare, sporting and community initiatives.  They develop new skills in a wide spectrum of different activities, and must improve and maintain high levels of personal fitness.  In addition they develop their personal skills, such as initiative, resilience and group work, through a challenging expedition.

At EMC we run Bronze expeditions hiking through the Shropshire Hills, and Silver expeditions canoeing down the Wye River.
